Coincidentally, I just read this in the Hauerwas and Willimon book (133):
We think our lives will be less if we don’t have the “the latest,” but then we discover that the latest becomes dated almost before we get it home. The rapid development of computers makes them a particularly gruesome master for those who must have the latest.
