I’m back from vacation, which means my kids will soon be back in school (as many kids in the area already are). As I said in last week’s e-newsletter, however, the truth is that all of us should be in school all the time. After all, the word “disciple” means learner or student. If we are Jesus’ disciples, we should always be learning from him.

With this in mind, I’m beginning a new eight-part sermon series this Sunday called “Back to School,” which will cover Jesus’ most famous sermon, the Sermon on the Mount, found in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. (In Luke, it’s usually called the Sermon on the Plain, but it’s a similar sermon). Like the sermon itself, this series will touch on many of the most important aspects of Christian discipleship.
